Job Description:

Position Title: Physician Liaison

POSITION SUMMARY :

Responsible for identifying, cultivating, and maintaining new and existing referring relationships with provider groups in the assigned territory. This role is responsible for providing a high level of customer service by presenting information on our services and facilities, while identifying obstacles to business growth. Individual will be accountable for onboarding new physicians by implementing successful business development strategies to support and grow physician practices throughout both campuses at Scottish Rite for Children. Collaboration with our leadership team is essential to ensure growth priorities are in line with the vision and strategic goals of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Serve as a liaison for referral sources; develop mutually beneficial relationships through face-to-face visits with physicians, advance practice practitioners, nurses, referral coordinators, practice managers and medical staff from referring physician offices and community hospitals. The liaison will ensure understanding of hospital services and work to uncover and minimize referral obstacles.

  2. Must be able to present in front of a large audience. Liaison will host presentations to educate referring providers and practice staff on our services. Must have excellent active listening skills and work to understand the current perception of our services, while identifying physician needs and concerns.

  3. Excellent follow up skills are required to enhance customer satisfaction and strengthen relationships with referral sources.

  4. Frequent issue resolution for referring providers in the assigned territory is required. Liaison will work collaboratively with service line directors, department chairs, site managers and leadership team to resolve issues and improve service lines. Must have the ability to recognize acute problems (i.e. need for urgent outpatient referral) and know how to coordinate effectively in a large organization in order to receive a timely solution.

  5. Onboard new physicians by introducing them to referring providers, coordinating speaking opportunities.

  6. Maintain existing and cultivate new relationships with community providers and other entities that are mutually beneficial for the referral source, staff and organization. This will include school districts and school nurses in some cases.

  7. Support events as needed, specifically intended to nurture referral relationships and enhance faculty and hospital reputation. This will include some health fairs and health conferences with some limited weekend time commitments.

  8. Interpret current physician referral patterns utilizing existing reporting tools and market intelligence to assess opportunities for strategic growth within the network. Coordinate and manage regular meetings with leadership team to review data and discuss current and future growth strategy.

  9. Collaborate with strategy and planning team to help identify market insights and growth strategy based on internal and external data.

  10. Collaborate with internal marketing/communications team to help identify materials needed for outreach and keep them up to date.

  11. Collaborate with all internal departments at both campuses, including patient access, ambulatory care, financial services, family services, orthopedics, sports medicine, fracture, rheumatology, neurology, therapy services and dyslexia.

  12. Maintain detailed activity reports in CRM (Welltok) by documenting each provider and external staff interaction and measuring key activities and impacts.

  13. Communicate in a manner that supports the organization’s vision, mission and values.

  14. Other duties as described.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • Experience working with community-based physicians and demonstrates the ability to develop trusting relationships with physicians.
